Vrinda Grover is a renowned lawyer and women’s rights activist, who has been practising at the Supreme Court for more than 30 years. Her contribution to contemporary feminist jurisprudence in India is significant.
An alumna of Delhi University and New York University, Advocate Grover has appeared for the victims in numerous domestic violence, sexual assault, and custodial torture cases.
She contributed immensely in the drafting of the 2013 Criminal Law Amendment for bringing about the law against sexual assault; the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act, 2012, and the Prevention of Torture Bill, 2010.
Advocate Grover has been a part of several organizations such as the Multiple Action Research Group (MARG), Green Peace, Universal Periodic Review, UN Special Rapporteurs, UN Women India Civil Society Advisory Group, South Asians for Human Rights (SAHR), and the Fund for Global Human Rights. She is also founder member of the Working Group on Human Rights in India.
In July 2023, Advocate Grover was appointed as a member of the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Ukraine by the President of the United Nations Human Rights Council to investigate the alleged violations and abuses of human rights, international humanitarian law and related crimes in the aggression against Ukraine perpetuated by Russia.
